Wow #sydGC is the biggest pile of elitist waste I have ever come across. It just so happens to be a secret facebook group I was recently invited to. Out of intrigue I accepted, and lo and behold - a community of vain, angry and politically correct humans pouring their hearts out to a big girl-cum internet keyboard warrior forum Dolly magazine ver. 2.0.
A group “all for everyone and everything”. Yet there is completely no place for men in the group. I guess it will spoil their apparent “proud and open” feminist rants about relationships, politics and health. Yeah true feminists… #partoftheproblem #notthesolution #cuteattemptthough
But the argument of:
"…But we are different to men, we have our own problems and struggles that we would like to discuss in the privacy of an elitist secret facebook group that just so happens to have a huge inner-west hipster base of tattoo artists and roller derby queens"
(yes that is intended to sound pathetic, generalised and stereotypical)
seems no different to:
"…But we cannot ignore that we are different to women, we are mostly emotionally and physically stronger, and we earn more because we do the harder jobs, like mining or engineering"
(yes that is ALSO intended to sound pathetic, generalised and stereotypical)
The fact they have special titles for their leaders already draws a level of hierarchy, even if it is a 2 level system. (chant: The Leader Is Good. The Leader Is Great) “omgsh wow, wow, wow, WOW how dare you insult [insert fancy abbreviated title here]”
Yes this is real life, people.
Within 2 days, my home facebook feed was absolutely saturated with posts on relationships, drugs, poo, tell-me-i-look-amazing-in-my-new-lingerie, (I did see 2 posts about getting a job - congrats to them), oh and a post on bullying within the group (SHOCK HORROR).
This is a group with a zero tolerance policy for almost everything (this can be very positive of course). However, even subjective inputs can be condemned if it rules against the general thoughts of the exclusive “girls club”. Oh they can also call you names too, not even names of impersonal generalisations, but nasty play ground names.
Nah thanks #sydGC. One can still be an opinionated, educated and cultured feminist without having to scroll through a lonely/angry girls club seeking approval and agreeance for everything in a male-excluded e-society.
